Making a claim at the Consumer Claims Tribunal (TTPM) is straightforward and helps consumers resolve disputes fairly. Follow these steps to file your claim successfully

1. Visit a TTPM Office

You can visit any TTPM office nationwide. Find the nearest office by visiting the official TTPM website.

2. Fill Out Form 1 and Submit to the Opposing Party (Workshop)

Complete Form 1 to start your claim and pay a small fee of RM5. Make copies of the form to deliver to the workshop that caused the dispute.

3. Serve the Form Properly

You must deliver the form either by hand or via registered post to ensure there is proof of delivery to the workshop.

4. Attend the Hearing

A hearing date will be set where both parties present their evidence and arguments. You can show proof of unauthorized repairs and excessive charges during this process. Multiple hearings may be needed.

5. Follow Through After the Decision

If the decision is in your favor, the workshop must comply and return your car. If they fail to do so within 14 days, this is a criminal offense, and you can report it back to TTPM for investigation.

• A fine up to RM10,000, imprisonment up to 2 years, or both.

• If the offense continues, additional daily fines between RM100 and RM5,000 can be imposed.
